Class: Both these cars were purpose built to run NASA Spec Z, but also run SCCA T3..

Cages: The earlier of the 2 cars (car 12) has our gen 1 z33 NASA/SCCA spec cage. Car 13 was built a few years later and has a gen 3 version of the same cage.

Other Goodies: Both cars got dropped floor pans to allow the 6′ 6" driver to drive either car. Car 12 won central SCCA T3 champion in 2019, with car 12 coming in 2nd.

Part 1:

As with any race car, it all starts with the chassis build. The z33 platform is one of our most commonly built cages. Whether its Formula D drifting, road racing, or drag racing, we have refined the fitment of the cages in these very challenging cars. This is Gen 3 of our 350z, 1.75" road racing cage. It touches in almost every spot possible and can keep a 6′ 6" driver far enough away from the A pillar bar that his helmet does not touch.

Part 2:

The center bar in the door bar goes down through the floor and serves as a jack point. We used a combination of stripped, pre cage weights and CAD design program to determine CG. Now with a single jack point, the entire side of the car lifts evenly.

Part 3:

We use plating on multiple surfaces to give as many points to weld the main hoop and door bars to the B pillar area as possible. Makes for an extremely solid mounting point.

Part 4:

How do you fit a 6′ 6" driver in a 350z? Easy, drop the floor pan. We then use DOM to tie the seat mounting into the cage, transmission tunnel, and rocker box.

Part 5:

After the cage is built and painted, the boys at Next Rev come in the fully 3d printed dashes to custom house everything needed.

Part 6:

Custom touch panel PDM and display round out the interior of both cars

Part 7:

The hood vents are CFD tested for added down force against a scanned version of the car in Solid Works, then 3d printed to test the concept. Once proven, a mold will be made and carbon version can be built as the final piece.
