PMF Trunk-Mounted Chassis Wing System

At PMF, every product starts from a real-world need we encounter on customer builds. This system was born from one of the most common challenges in race car fabrication — achieving the rigidity of a chassis-mounted wing while keeping the convenience and accessibility of a trunk-mounted setup.

With a traditional chassis-mount wing, accessing the trunk typically means removing the wing or lifting off the entire trunk lid — both of which are cumbersome for one person and risk damaging expensive parts. Even when left in place, a chassis wing makes it difficult to work around or reach inside the trunk.

On the other hand, a trunk-mounted wing is convenient — it hinges with the lid and allows full access — but comes with serious downsides. The downforce loads pass through thin sheet metal or composite panels, often crushing or cracking trunk lids and stressing latch points.

Our system combines the best of both worlds.
The wing mounts directly to the deck lid and opens with it like a conventional trunk-mounted setup. When closed, four aircraft-spec locking pins engage the in-trunk stanchions, transferring all aerodynamic load straight into the rear frame rails. The result: full chassis-mount strength with trunk-mount convenience. The system also doubles as a trunk latch, allowing you to eliminate the factory latch and striker for added weight savings.

• PMF billet upper stanchions with adjustable turn-buckle system for infinite angle adjustment
• Pre-welded aluminum in-trunk stanchions
• Steel stud plates for rear frame rail (steel welding required)
• Four aircraft-spec quick-release pins
• 3D-printed cut templates for accurate body trimming behind taillights
