As a donor car for the drivetrain and suspension, a good running r33 gtr was found and purchased in Japan. Working with an importing specialist, the car was carefully cut up and sent over in pieces.
The initial cut on the R33 has been made and the process of stripping it down to a workable carcass has begun. The S13 will stay left hand drive.
As the process of thinning down the R33 continues, the next step will be fixturing it to the frame table to make the important cuts and prepare it for the S13. A quick shot of breaking down the RB26 and getting the platform ready for machining at Precision Race Engines.
R33 is officially on this one of a kind fixture jig table. You won’t see another one like it. Temporarily jigged in place to be further trimmed down. The a-pillars and rockers will be cut out to allow the floor pan to sink into the S-chassis.
After another round of big cuts on the R33, the A-pillars, rockers and partial firewall are now gone. Thankful for the forklift on this one to remove that big piece. Time to start replicating the cuts in the S13.
S13 floor is cut out, R33 is clip is trimmed and prepped. Now onto the fun stuff, laying the body over.
